Senior Accountant

Department: Tri HoldCo.
Location: Folsom, CA

Senior Accountant
Pay Rate: $33.65 to $43.27/Hour – Depending on years of experience

The Budget and Finance Department ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying and reconciling transactions resulting in accurate financial reporting and analysis while adhering to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant has diversified responsibilities, supporting overall Budget and Finance operations and goals, providing exceptional customer service to our executives and team members, and impacting the growth of our company.


JOB PURPOSE: Supports the Accounting Manager in ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying and reconciling transactions resulting in accurate financial reporting and financial analysis.


PRIMARY ROLE DESCRIPTION: General Ledger reconciliation, monthly and annual close, audit(s) and subsidiary company support


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintain and balance general ledger by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions and preparing the trial balance
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations
• Facilitate and complete monthly and annual close procedures
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules and variance analysis
• Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
• Work with Staff Accountant and Auditor to maintain fixed assets
• Generate monthly KPI’s and ad hoc reporting
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
• Prepare property tax returns
• Prepare sales and use tax returns (US and Canada)
• Coordinate with contracted service providers on state registrations, business license renewals
• Assist with budget coordination
• Assist with corporate annual audit
• Assist with 401(k) and ESOP annual audits
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Perform other duties and projects as and when required
• Banking duties: Save bank statements, set up ACHs/Wires, enter deposits and balance maintenance transfers, etc.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years accounting/finance experience in a mid-to-upper level accounting position
• Strong understanding of accounting theory
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices including internal controls
• Experience with journal entry preparation, G/L reconciliation, monthly and annual close
• Experience providing information to external auditors and providing audit support during annual fieldwork
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Outlook ; successfully utilizing features (pivots, lookup functions, and data tables)
• Knowledge of advanced Excel features such as creating and maintaining Macros, Index/Match, and if statement formulas a plus but not required
• Experience with ERP application software; Sage Intacct experience is a plus
• Knowledge of budget development, projections and variance analysis
• Experience in fixed asset accounting, depreciation/amortization calculations is a plus
• Experience with Project Management software is a plus
